The How To Feel Better In Your Body. Advice I wish More Women Knew....
It feels like the world wants us to be overwhelmed, confused and a customer for life when it comes to "helping" us feel our best. What if it was simpler? What if all you needed to learn was which healthier habits you needed to become more consistent with? Not perfect but consistent with.
I want to help you get there by sharing what has helped me at 46 years old to feel my best in my mind, body and soul:
Sunshine! Daily exposure to the sun or day light (it's not always sunny) all year round. What does this look like? First thing in the morning as the sun rises, mid day (sometimes it's 45 minutes, 20 or five) and before the sun sets at night. No sunglasses or sunscreen on. When I lay out in the sun I use a free app called D Minder Pro. This helps me understand how long I can stay out in the sun with out burning. Getting regular sun exposure helps keep our mitochondria healthy, our vitamin D levels healthy, helps us get better sleep, great for our immune system and the list goes on.
Nutrition: I eat three good sizes meals per day. I don't snack. I focus on eating the foods the earth provides over processed packaged foods. When eating fruits and vegetables I focus on in season so I get the most nutrients out of them and into my body. I eat things like: eggs, seafood, butter, coconut oil, ghee, tallow, sweet potatoes, fruits, beef, chicken, dates, honey, dark chocolate, clean, dairy (healthiest forms I can find), homemade bread, grain free organic granola. I eat slowly. I try to eat most meals outside. I do not multitask while I eat. I try not to eat out more than once a week, if not at all and make all my meals at home.
Hydrate: I use electrolytes in my water. I have for years. They have personally helped me feel better and have kept my electrolyte levels balanced. These are the ones I use (discount code: freshfitkate): Redmond Life | Real Salt & Clay | Re-Lyte Electrolyte Hydration Powder
Sleep: I go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time. I used an alarm at first to help train my body. I have not used an alarm in years unless I am traveling and need to get up earlier. Having your circadian rhythm in alignment allows me to feel so good! STaing off screens first thing in the morning and before bed.
Strength train 3 times a week and walk daily. Sometimes I add in pilates and core. I do stretching and mobility once a week and walk outside daily. I typically find myself getting a minimum of 15,000 steps per day. I stream my workouts at home and these are the ones I have been doing the last couple of years ( you can try them for free for a week): https://fitwithcoco.com/?referral_code=HDgHiaDcgHeHFg
Keep my mindset in a healthy state and in this day in age it takes mindfulness to do this. I am particular about what I am consuming: what I am watching, listening to, reading and the people I spend time with.
When I am stressed I learned to handle it in a healthy way. Pray, journal, walk, rest, slow it down, be more present in my life and less time on my phone (even taking breaks from all social media) talk to family or friends or seek help.
For me personally life with God all day every day is way better than without him. I have strayed from Him many times and my life is always better with him front and center.
Lets talk about habits. One of the first things I did when I wanted to get off medications not weight over 200lbs was look at my habits. I started asking myself questions like: Is this a choice a healthy person would make or an unhealthy person would make? Is this choice showing how much I respect my mind, body and soul? Is this choice harmful or helpful when it comes to my health and well being? These answers helped me learn how to make healthier choices. Where I started in 2014 looks so different from today. I had a lot to unlearn and little by little I did as I became more aware of my daily habits.
Getting consistent with healthier habits helped me so much and I have watched it help so many other women. I hope what I shared with you can help you discover which habits you can make a little bit better and once you get consistent start feeling better. At the end of the day we don't need to feel more stressed or overwhelmed, my hope is you read this and feel lighter. You may even read this and thinks thats it? Thats all I need to work on? I hope thats what you are thinking and feeling. Maybe you are the type of person that wants to refine everything all at once or maybe you are the type of person that needs to work on one thing at a time, either way the goal is to just start working on the healthier habits. Choose which option is best for you and just begin.
I hope in time this helps you feel as good as I do!
