How To Make Your First Charcuterie Board


Charcuterie (pronounced "shahr-ku-tuh-ree") just in case you were wondering, because I was!

I am so excited to be wirting this blog because it means I actually made my very first charcuterie board and that has been something I have been wanting to do for years! I think part of me was a bit intimidated and I didn't exactly know where to begin. So my hope is I make this so simple for you that you end up having the best time creating your own and feel super proud of what you have created when you share it amongst family and friends!

Okay so first things first lets talk about what you need in order to make your own beautiful mouth watering board. First and the most important purchase will be your board. I purchased a large handmade one here in Charleston from my favorite store called Steven Shell Living. Now that you have the board you need a shopping list and this is the fun part because I realized you can fill the board with anything your heart desires. I love that there was something for everyone on this board to enjoy, which I why I think it was such a huge hit. Here is what I grabbed to create our board ( I also grabbed a mixture of nuts but totally forgot about them until after we ate everything):

  • Grapes

  • Carrot Chips

  • pomegranate

  • a variety of olives

  • pickled veggies

  • pepperoni

  • sausauge

  • bri cheese

  • smoked chedder

  • aged chedder

  • cranberry cheese

  • Breton sesame & butter round crackers

I grabbed a couple small dishes to place the pomegranate seeds, carrot chips, olives and the pickled vegetables in. Then after placing those dishes on the board I began to place everything else on the board making sure there was a vairety of options at every angle of the board. It was simple and it was so much fun to make, more importantly it was enjoyed by everyone!
