Personal Development Will Change Everything

I had never heard of personal development until I became an Accountability Coach. My company said one of my daily requirements was to read or listen to at least ten minutes a day of personal development. I truly had no idea what that even was. What I learned was that it is a way for people to improve or build their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realize and maximize their potential on a personal and professional basis. Personal Development has truly helped me in so many different aspects of my life personally and professionally. It has helped me with my confidence, with anxiety, with depression and it is a habit I will continue to do for the rest of my life. I am so thrilled to have written this blog so I could share with you just a few of the books & podcast that have helped me grow the past three years.

The first book I ever started off with was called the Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. I loved this book because I could relate everything he was talking about to my personal journey with creating a healthier lifestyle and I could apply what I was learning to my professional journey. The Compound Effect is based on the principle that decisions shape your destiny. Little, everyday decisions will either take you to the life you desire or to disaster by default. Darren Hardy, publisher of Success Magazine, presents The Compound Effect, a distillation of the fundamental principles that have guided the most phenomenal achievements in business, relationships, and beyond. This easy-to-use, step-by-step operating system allows you to multiply your success, chart your progress, and achieve any desire. If you’re serious about living an extraordinary life, use the power of The Compound Effect to create the success you want.

The second book I ended up reading and then listening to serval times was a book by Jen Sincero called You Are A Badass. When I read this book my confidence in many areas of my life was not where I wanted to be and Jen said exactly what I needed to hear at the time, so I kept listening to it. Jen Sincero, serves up 27 tiny chapters full of hilariously inspiring stories, sage advice, easy exercises, and the occasional swear word (yes it can be a bit surprising), helping you to: Identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want, Create a life you totally love. And create it NOW, Make some money already doing what you love and going after the life you are craving. By the end of You Are a Badass, you'll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can't change, how to change what you don't love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious butt.

The next book I ended up picking up was called The Power Of I Am by Joel Osteen. If you have faith & need some confidence to go live the life you were created to live, then this is a great read to get. Can two words give you the power to change your life? Yes, they can and they really do have a powerful effect in this book! In Joel's book, he shares a profound principle based on one simple truth: Whatever follows the words "I am" will always come looking for you. His insights and encouragement are illustrated with amazing stories of people who turned their lives around by focusing on the positive power of this principle. With THE POWER OF I AM as a guide, readers will stop criticizing themselves, start showing themselves the love they deserve and instead discover their inner strengths, natural talents, and unique abilities that will make them prosper with self-assurance. Readers can choose to rise to a new level and invite God's goodness by focusing on I AM.

The next book I ended up grabbing was a book by Brian Tracy called Change Your Thinking, Change Your life. A proven plan for transforming your life by changing the way you think about yourself and your potential. It's all about harnessing the power of self confidence to complexity transform your life, eliminate negativity to focus on what is really important, dramatically increase your income, unlock your true potential, live a happier and more satisfying life. I absolutely wanted to grab life by the horns and hit the ground running after reading this book.

The next book is Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist I think all women, especially mothers need to have this book as a staple for life in the female world. In this book, you’ll be invited to consider the landscape of your own life, and what it might look like to leave behind the pressure to be perfect and begin the life-changing practice of simply being present, in the middle of the mess and the ordinariness of life. It's a book that made me realize to let go of the guilt, be proud of always doing the best you can and it is okay to say no to things.

If you want to enrich your life and DESTROY doubt, this book is a must. The 5 Second Rule, by Mel Robbins was another game changer for me, especially with the tips she shared that help me gain control over my anxieties and fears. It takes just five seconds to use this tool, and every time you do you’ll be in great company. More than 8 million people have watched Mel’s TEDx Talk, and executives inside of the world’s largest brands are using the tool to increase productivity, collaboration, and engagement. In The 5 Second Rule, you’ll discover it takes just five seconds to:Become confidentBreak the habit of procrastination and self-doubtBeat fear and uncertaintyStop worrying and feel happierShare your ideas with courageThe 5 Second Rule is a simple, one-size-fits-all solution for the one problem we all face—we hold ourselves back.

The last book is another game changer for the business owner, it's called Get Over Your Damn Self by Romi Neustadt. Romi Neustadt is passionate about helping others build lucrative direct sales and network marketing businesses that help create lives with more freedom and flexibility, greater purpose and a lot more fun. In this book she offers you the same direct, no-BS coaching she's given to tens of thousands to help you acquire the skills to build this sucker and teach your team to do the same. And, equally important, she'll work on your mindset so you stop over complicating it all and stop letting the negative voices in your head win. You're going to learn:The Posture to confidently connect with anyone about your business and your products. The Possibilities for a lucrative, efficient and enormously rewarding turn key business. The Power that's already within you to build the life you really want... if you dare. I have the hard copy of this book and I purchased it on audible.

Hopefully one of the recommendations above will help you find a new book you can sink into and let you have a taste of what I have been experiencing over the last fews years of implementing personal development into my own life. Equally important to these books has been podcasts. I started listening to my first podcast three years ago and it was one my company put out weekly sharing different success stories. One day I happen to stumble across a podcast and began listening to it in the car, that began my love for podcast. I absolutely love listening to anything that allows me to feel motivated, inspired or encouraged. So I want to share some of my favorite podcast channels so that maybe while you are driven in your car you can start listening to these or find one of your own that fills your cup.

I promise you that you will not regret fueling your mind with the things it needs, craves and deserves to hear. There are so many amazing things for us to feed our minds with right at our fingertips.
