Do As I Say AND As I Do

Remember that saying "do as I say not as I do?" How many of us have heard of that?

What if we changed that to "do as I say and as I do!"

I spent many years raising my children using that first statement. I didn't want my children to be anything like me. I didn't want them to depend on food to make them feel better. I didn't want them to talk about themselves poorly. I didn't want them to starve themselves or binge eat. I didn't want them to feel uncomfortable in their own skin. I didn't want them to hide from pictures because they felt shame. I wanted them to have healthy habits. To be proud of themselves and to never let the scale never determine their worth. I didn't want them to dread going to work, especially when we spend a majority of our lives working. I wanted them to finish everything they started, not quit everything like me. I wanted them to treat their mind and bodies like they were worth gold, then it hit me...it hit me hard...I was telling them do as I say not as I do...what was I showing them? What was I teaching them?

I needed to start being the example I wanted them to be. If I wanted them to grow up as strong, determined, mentally & physically healthy adults, then I needed to step up to the plate. I needed to become that person I wanted them to be.

Was it easy to turn my life around? No it wasn't. I was suffering from anxiety & depression daily, I relied on medication to make things better, I was overweight, I was unhealthy, I was negative and had a "poor me" attitude. You hear me say this all the time, but I can not say it enough. When you want to change more than you want to stay the same, then you will do everything in your power to make that happen.

When you have three people depending on you & looking to you as their example as they mold into adults you realize you need to work harder then hell to make these changes happen. I didn't just do this for my kids, but they sure are one of the main reasons that motivate me daily to be better then I was yesterday.

My kids see me busting my butt every single day in our home. They see me push myself when I am tired, they see me drenched in sweat, they see me picking myself up off the floor, but thats not all they see. They see me fueling my mind with personal development whether it's listening to a book while we are driving or when I go to bed. They seem me drinking Shakeology every single day & they know why I am drinking it. It gives my body the vitamins & nutrients that it needs. They see me fueling my body with healthy choices & they also see me indulging without guilt every now & then. It took time to figure it all out, but I didn't do it alone. I did it with the support of my coach, friends I made along the way from accountability groups & with the support/cheering on from my family.

Now my kids see I have turned my life around & I am helping others do the same. Not only do they see me working so hard for myself & for them, but they also see me growing a successful business from home. I am always sharing my goals for my business with them, goals I have for our family & every time a client shares a non scale victory or any victory they see me jumping up & down with joy. So they know why I am working a lot, but I am fortunate enough to work my job around them. I attend games, do a lot of carpooling, volunteer & there for them before school/after school. Even though I have to make a lot of sacrifices while growing my business, I am not sacrificing the moments that are most important to them & to me as a parent. I want my children to be as happy as I am when it comes to their job. To love what you do so much you don't dread a single Monday is a gift & one I do not take for granted. I want them to find their passion & believe that they can pursue it. I want them to set goals personally along with professionally & crush those goals.

So when my 15 year old daughter tells me she is so proud of me or my 11 year old tells me he loves that I help people change their lives or when my 13 year old son comes to me for advice because he wants to train at home to build his strength, endurance because he believes he can make his dreams come true if he works hard enough...I can't help but feel incredibly proud. This journey has never been easy, but it has been totally worth it.

I don't share this with you all to brag. I share this with you all because if someone like me can completely change their life around & lifestyle, so can you! I want every single person to know it is never to late, never!

You can be proud of the example you set.

You can change your habits.

YOU CAN DO THIS!
