On This Journey Together

When I first started my journey my husband was not on board. He didn't think working out from home would bring results (I proved him wrong), clean eating was foreign & he was not about to drink a shake to get his vitamins & nutrients. He liked eating whatever he wanted to eat. He also spends a lot of time at restaurants with his clients. So if they want a drink or an appetizer, then he would always join along. My husband has always been athletic and in good health, just not living a healthy lifestyle. Honestly it was just always easier not to have to worry about what he was putting in his body or having to make a workout happen on a daily basis.

Eventually he would join me here or there & I decided not push him.The only reason I decided not to ask him to join me anymore was because I realized I was actually just pushing him farther away from wanting to join me, so I just kept doing my thing & secretly hoped he would jump on board. I knew he needed to want this for himself & it couldn't be just for me. I also knew if I could prove to him that everything I was doing worked, then there would be a better chance of him getting on board with me.

Now I am proud to say we are on this journey together & our marriage couldn't be more stronger. Supporting each other on this journey was the best gift we could have given each other & our family.

Our 3 children get to witness their Mom & Dad cheering each other on, high giving one another, supporting each another & setting an example that is not only important for them to create a healthier lifestyle, but setting an example of how a marriage should work.

So if you are feeling frustrated because you want to create a healthier lifestyle with your spouse and they are not on board, do not give up. Keep doing what you are doing. Learn to make their favorite dinners in a healthier way. Show them that healthy can still taste good. Ask your spouse to do something active with you like a bike ride, a walk in the park or around your neighborhood, or go for a hike together. You start to be more active together, your partner will start to feel better and that will help you help them.

Let's be real no one really knows what hard work marriage is until you are married. You get out of it-what you put in it. My husband and I want to grow old together and god willing we will have that chance to do so. I wouldn't want our poor choices to prevent that from happening for our sake and our families sake.

If you need help, support or accountability and don't want to be on this journey to a healthier life on your own please message me or email. I would love to chat and see how I can best support you to get to where you want to be.
