Getting Your Kids To Eat Clean

I have a lot of parents say to me that they don't think they could get their kids on board with clean eating, especially their teenagers. I want to share some tips and tricks. When I first wanted my family to clean eat, I decided to get rid of everything. I soon learned that my children would be purchasing lots of unhealthy snacks at school and would find lots of wrappers in their lunch bags. I needed to change their thinking like I changed mine from "I can eat that, but I am choosing not too". There was also a lot of complaining. So I thought long and hard about how could I get my whole family on board and feel the way I do- how truly important it is to nourish our bodies properly. I needed to start educating them, by reading important blurbs from my books and clean eating magazines. We also started to watch documentaries like "Fed Up", "Food Matters", "The Beautiful Truth", and the "Gerson Therapy" and there are many more. I have to say that "Fed Up" really hit home for them and all the sugar we as Americans consume. I had to put some snacks back in the pantry. I used my fooducate app to help me make better choices. The kids also love using this app to scan food when we are shopping. We also have incorporated drinking only water, no more soda, juices or anything sugary. If your hungry drink a glass of water and wait ten minutes. I found organic juice boxes, that my youngest has in his lunch-but that's it for juice(unless we make it fresh). Our family rule is when we go to a Birthday party, sporting event or family celebration they may have a soda, juice, cookies or whatever they would like-mindfully. We have learned to take our favorite recipes and make them clean. Having my children prep, cook and bake with me has not only been fun; but they are more willing to taste or try things they have created. My hopes are that if I can get them making these choices now as children, they will not struggle as adults with food choices and will lead much healthier lifestyles.
